Prof. Antonella Giannantoni on the management of nocturia and desmopressin therapy in “oldest- old” patients (Part 3 and final)

2018-08-16

The third part of this video deals with the management of nocturia and the use of desmopressin in very old patients. As the majority of these patients are very frail, certain interventions, e.g. physical activity and enhancing muscular strength, are no longer an option. Prof. Giannantoni discusses the possibility of using desmopressin in very old patients whose nocturnal polyuria is due to a reduced production of vasopressin. So far, no studies have been conducted on the use of desmopressin in “oldest-old” patients and there is a clear need for more data in this patient population with high prevalence and severity of overactive bladder and nocturia.
